We have a long but good one with a U.S Tax Attorney who specializes in wills, trusts & estates, preserving tax exemption status, protecting assets of high net-worth families and more. Listen to hear about her story of how she went from a smart and confident girl from D.C. to a Supreme Court honoree, and everything in between.

What I Spend in a Day as a Corporate Lawyer Living in London
Life's too great to have to worry 💞 about shallow crap like that 😞
Kiana, you’re not wrong. I’ve had the privilege of working from your same position. But here’s the cap. The imposter syndrome you’re describing, that has nothing to do with race and EVERYTHING to do with your current position. Insert anyone into that role and they should feel that way. How would anyone feel easy in that role if they didn’t have the same luxuries and challenges? But more importantly, show me one person who does have the same luxuries and challenges in that role and I’ll be the cap.

Even though this is 3 years ago I think some of the strategies she points out are still valuable!
Thank you so much for this interview. I loved it.
I could never live in New York
Great video. Very informative
Inspirational
❤❤❤❤
Your so sweet❤
IP sound like the wave
as a fellow tax attorney, I'm so happy to see this videooo
I am going to school for legal studies to become a criminal defense and sports attorney
This was such an amazing conversation. Throughly enjoyed this episode.
I really enjoyed this conversation. I’m in the application cycle for 2025 and i am considering real estate law. I’ve worked in some facet of residential and CRE for the past almost 10 years and I’ve learned so much about the background of building, development and ownership. I Would love to hear more about that.
Do yall still feel this way 2 years later?
Yes
50th likey!!!
This was such an inspiring interview/conversation. 🥰🥰🥰
What’s the tax attorney name?
I found is ma’am! Her name is spelled Keonna Carter
@@donnaethomasDT180 thank you
Angel! Thank you again for inviting me to Sisters in Law. I’m so proud of the platform that you two have built to demystify the practice of law. One comment about the interview - during the playback, I noticed how many times I stated that the naysayers were right. This conversation made me realize that that’s not entirely true. All they did was point out how unlikely it was for me to succeed in this arena because it had never been done before. But, God had the final say. 👏🏾🙌🏾 Thank you for the opportunity to revisit - and more importantly - reframe this part of my journey.
Wow your story is so inspiring! I’m currently a paralegal at a probate/estate planning law firm (I’m the only Black person), and I’m preparing to apply to law school. I love this field of law and wish more Black people knew how to protect their assets so they don’t end up draining what is often a small family fortune that they have with probate and attorney fees. I have been looking for a Black woman mentor in this field because it’s so much gatekeeping like you mentioned in comparison to other areas of law, and I would love to connect with you if possible. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!!
Such a phenomenal interview! This guest is everything!!
Love this! Definitely start attending the Mark Kholer events, there are very few BW tax attorneys and as a business owner I always look to work with black women first. It would be a great networking opportunity for you ladies.
This video was so influential! Tax law has always been a big interests of mine and I can’t wait to be a part of the small but growing percentage of us in this field
Thank you so much for the channel. Y'all are so inspiring! Interested in tax and getting ready for law school soon!
This was such an amazing conversation! Would love to see her on the channel again.
I absolutely loved this interview, thank you both so much. Would you be able to an episode with someone who is the general counsel of an organization? I am interested in learning more about that path.
@@lillie.annmargaret that might be a little difficult but we’ll try!
@@Sistersinlaw Thank you!
I loved this interview.

This was such a motivating talk
Every single minute. I learned so much! 31:02 was enlightening.
As a new attorney specializing in tax, I'm really excited for this one.
This totally came in handy today! Thank you.
You're welcome! Glad we were helpful.

When traveling you should be charging up to 80% for longevity and efficiency purposes. Charging your car to 100% which you should only do when starting a trip can take close to an hour and almost half that time is charging from 90 to 100%. When you get to a supercharger, charging from 10% to 80% takes 35 minutes and with the planner it doesn't have you charge that long but it will have you charge often. Sounds like you were charging to 100% which will take a long time and is not recommended. FSD still requires you pay attention as if you are driving. That's not a con. FSD is still in trial and development stage. You must learn how EV's, particularly your car works as opposed to gas cars. Those manuals are not in the glove box to take up space. Problem is no one reads them then wonders why the car does what it does not understanding that's how it works.
I grew up in DC boring is far from the truth. But to be fair, NYC is a city that never sleeps. Everything is open 24 hours a day. If that’s what you like then cool🤷🏾♂️
When you take on a "large minded" perspective of what a lifestyle influencer is- you realize that REAL lifestyle influencing is done "inna real life!"...lol. There IS the virtual/digital concept of lifestyle influencing- which REQUIRES you to exert a certain amount of energy if you were to produce content based on what everyone else is doing... But the TRUTH is- you've BEEN lifestyle influencing. Everything that you ladies do, whether in this format or your daily living(the things you don't publish digitally)- you are influencing. People are watching. When you live a life of light(love, compassion, honesty, loyalty, goodness, generousity- PURPOSE), you are living in a realm that makes you the "salt of the earth." Stay Encouraged. Publish(when inspired). Most importantly, LIVE! Your story is being told and revealed in ways you may not understand - YET. We(supporters) love you. Keep shining. You are breaking "general curses" in the lives of many. Overall, you are the fulfillment of answered prayers of your ancestors. God bless. Corwin.
Thank you for the inspiring words, Corwin. I've never thought of it form this perspective. -Samanta
I would regret every 6:30 am hike. ugh. Too early for a hike. I will be back at camp gettin water and starting the fire back up and gettin breakfast ready. And still be groaning that ya’ll woke me up. I only got 3-4 hrs sleep.
this was good you was very detailed in i like how you moved I ready leave FL finally
The indie artist life will have you here 😅
what peace looks like!
i dropped out of law school and unsubscribed after i started to feel like i’d made the wrong decision (i definitely hadn’t). i just randomly searched your channel now and so happy to see how you are doing! i really liked you as people, not just the law stuff. take care!!
Thank You! One of my friends/ classmates had a similar inclination after his first year. He did not like the structure of legal practice, amongst other things. He graduated but did not take the bar or pursue a legal position. He's doing great. All of that to say, it seems that it is one of those if you know, you know things.
thank you so much for making this video! I am looking in what to do post grad and I am considering law school so seeing what different fields of law are like has been helping me alot!
Pasta at City Island is tough 😭
The glass offices is actually a plot point later in the show. A partner has all the offices changed to glass when he hears about another partner sexual assaulting people in his office.
ooo interesting! Thanks for sharing.
